MHS congratulates Rukmini Das Class of 2006  

Rukmini, daughter of MHS faculty, Ms Nandini Das (also an Alum), received her PhD in law, summa cum laude, from the University of Geneva. Rukmini successfully defended her thesis titled "The Use of Scientific Experts in International Disputes." 

The aim of Rukmini's doctoral thesis was to answer the "when" and the "how" of expert use in an international dispute, before an international court.

The research method used by Rukmini, involved the study of existing international and legal texts, judicial decisions, and interviews with judges, lawyers, and the “scientific experts” themselves. The project was funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation. 

Rukmini’s study has shown the myriad ways in which experts may be employed in a dispute, often depending on the forum in question.
