BITM - Frigid Physics


On 25th June, the students of Class 5 had an exciting opportunity to visit BITM for the captivating show ‘Frigid Physics’. The highlight of the show was the demonstration of experiments using solid carbon dioxide (dry ice) and liquid nitrogen, showcasing extremely low temperatures in action. The students were enthralled by the visual spectacle of materials instantly freezing and shattering under these conditions.

What made the experience even more memorable was the interactive session that followed. The educators at BITM engaged the children in various activities and demonstrations, encouraging them to ask questions and participate actively.

Throughout the visit, the atmosphere was filled with joy and enthusiasm as the students eagerly absorbed new knowledge through fun-filled experiments.



BITM - Space-tacular


Enlivened were the students of Class 4 on knowing they would visit BITM. On 25th June it was their time to learn about satellites. Students knew about the earth's gravity, and they further learnt how objects can go beyond gravity to reach space. The function of liquid nitrogen and the importance of the ozone layer was explained to the students by performing experiments using objects like balloons, balls and light. The students also learnt a new term - escape velocity. It was an exciting learning experience.



BITM - Science Magic Miracle


Often the scientific phenomena are draped in the garb of illusion and presented in the form of magic, miracles and superstition by tricksters. The curious little minds of Class 3 were taken to BITM on 27.06.2024 where they enjoyed the show 'Science Magic Miracle' and unveiled the secrets of the magicians' tricks. They tried the tricks themselves and were amazed by the magic of Science. The show filled them with curiosity to know more - which is the most important aspect of learning.


Class 5 Excursion


The students of Class 5 visited the Horticulture Gardens on Friday, 9th February for a little picnic followed by a visit to the Alipore Jail Museum. Students acquired knowledge about freedom fighters who had spent time in jail during the freedom struggle. It brought to light the sacrifices made by them. They learnt about India’s freedom struggle as they viewed the exhibitions, the watchtower, the cells and the wards. 



Class 4 Excursion


The students of Class 4 visited the Indian Museum as a part of the school Excursion on 18th January 2024. They were quite excited to enter the Invertebrates Gallery where they saw the remains of many creatures. This was followed by a walk through the Zoological Ecosystems gallery. They were keen on taking down notes and gathering information as they visited one gallery after another. They especially enjoyed seeing the old coins used during the Mughal era and their transformation in design with time. They learned that the materials used to make the coins changed too. The much-awaited Egyptian gallery was a highlight of their trip. Learning from the old was indeed an impactful experience for the students. They then went to the Eden Park Gardens for a picnic with their friends before returning to school. 


A day trip to Eco Park


On Thursday18th January, class 3s went on a day trip to Eco Park in New Town, one of the largest in India , sprawling over 480 acres. The girls were extremely excited  to go out with their classmates and teachers. Their fun journey began from the time they stepped into the bus equipped with picnic bags and caps on their heads.  It was an  adventure for them to visit the replicas of the seven wonders of the world. This urban ecological park was a visual thrill as well as an educative treat for them. Fun with friends, sharing food and laughter made the day trip memorable.  After a day well spent, the children came back tired but happy and content.



International Clown Festival


On the 10th of October 2023, the students of classes 3 and 4 went to  Science City to watch an absolutely delightful show that was a celebration of the International Clown Festival. The children were greeted by the sight of clowns from all over the world who put up a variety of exciting acts for a most eager and enthralled audience. The children were wowed by the skill of these clowns who did everything from juggling to riding a monocycle to climbing into giant balloons. While they made everything look effortless, it was clear that the artists were extremely talented and people who'd dedicated their lives to making people happy. 




Class 4 Excursion


On 8th December 2022, the students of Class 4 visited the General Post Office. 

At the Postal museum, the students learned about the mail runners of earlier times. They also saw the old postcards, stamps, machines, weighing scales and postboxes used during the British era. At the mail processing unit, students were shown how the post is sorted and segregated based on different areas before they are transferred to the respective addresses. The Philatelic Bureau was an interesting stop at the GPO where they saw many stamps. The day ended with a picnic at Eden Park before they returned to school. 


Visit to Victoria Memorial Hall


A few students of Class 5 visited the Victoria Memorial Hall on Saturday 01st July to participate in a ‘Treasure Hunt’ at the Calcutta Gallery. The students got involved in a fun filled mystery hunt, where they roamed the gallery for clues. 45 minutes later they emerged, not only having learnt a great deal about their city, but having thoroughly enjoyed themselves. "On the Right Trail" was certainly worth a visit!



The students of Class 4 went for a visit to the Indian Museum as a part of their History project.  The highlight was the visit to the Egyptian gallery where they saw a 4000 year old mummy.   Unfortunately photography was not allowed there. They visited other galleries too. 



On 8th February 2018 the students of classes 3, 4 and 5 went for a picnic to the Eco Park. They were mesmerized by the Seven Wonders of the World. The walk on the Great Wall of China and a peek into the  inside of a Pyramid was truly amazing.




10 of our students went for the inauguration of the country’s first Confucius Classroom. These class five students are studying Mandarin as their third language under the aegis of The School of Chinese Language. The girls performed a dance routine as well as recited some sayings of Confucius in both Chinese and English. Our participation was appreciated by all.




The students of Class 5 of our school who study Chinese as third language were invited to 'Happy Chinese Day' on Monday, November 6, 2017. This was held at Xuanzang Temple (Huang Tsang Monastery),Kolkata. The programme was jointly organised by The Chinese Consulate and The School of Chinese Language.
