Mr. Puragra Guha Thakurta, Professor and Astronomer at the University of California, Santa Cruz, visited Modern High School on 10th August 2022 and interacted with the students of Class 11. He gave an insight into their programme Shadow the Scientists and also conducted a brief session on Astronomy. It was a wonderful opportunity for students to get a glimpse of the stars of the Andromeda galaxy located about 2.5 million light years! Prof. Guha Thakurta showed a fascinating digital simulation of the Andromeda and Milky Way galaxy which are predicted to merge. Two research students, accompanying Prof Guha Thakurta, spoke about their research areas, their findings and processes. Furthermore, students were also informed about a myriad of science internships, summer programs and workshops conducted for high school students.
