Modern High School for Girls had planned a special interactive session with Jewish author, Jael Siliman for the students of Class 6 as a part of their Bagless Day activity mandated by NEP. She is a scholar, women's rights activist and the author of the children's book 'Shalome Rides a Royal Elephant'. She enlightened the children on the history of Jewish culture in Kolkata, the process of writing her book and the illustrations she had made as a visual aid to her storytelling journey. The session aimed at not only introducing the students to her storytelling prowess but also familiarising them with the remnants of Jewish history in their city. At Modern High School for Girls, we believe that it is important for the children to develop reverence and appreciation for all aspects of their city's culture, not just the parts they are aware of and this session was successful in doing just that!
