Legacy Club's visit to Dalhousie Institute

The Legacy Club members of Modern High School for Girls got an opportunity to visit the famed Dalhousie Institute to learn more about the city’s culture and heritage on 11th January, 2023. Guided by Mr. Leslie D’Gama, the students were able to take a highly interactive tour of the charming, historic building  that truly showcases the remarkable growth of the institute into one that is an amalgamation of history and the contemporary world. The Dalhousie Institute was once sequestered for use by the US troops during World War II, after which the location of the institution shifted to its present day site where it is still one of the only privately owned clubs in Kolkata. The students took a walk through Zach's Lounge and Cowper's Calcutta Hall, which were named after two prominent Presidents of the club. The students also got the opportunity to see the  vintage, black-and-white pictures from British times and noted the two cannons located by the entrance which date back to the year 1884! The visit provided the students with a wonderful exposure to the wealth of history that abounds in the City of Joy.
