Legacy and AAA Trip to Burdwan 2025
The members of the AAA and the Legacy Club of Modern High School for Girls embarked on a trip of exploration to the historically and culturally rich district of Burdwan from 11th to 13th January, 2025.
The journey included a visit to the Hanseswari Temple, renowned for its unique architecture followed by visits to the Kalna 108 Shiv mandir and the Burdwan 108 Shiv mandir that enriched their understanding of local spirituality. The students had a chance of making eco-friendly coasters and dokra figurines using jute ropes and colourful beads. A visit to the Dariyapur Dokra village gave them an insight into the unique metalwork Bengal is known for. Starting from a layer of beeswax to the final intricate design on metal, the process is truly captivating. Visits to the Burdwan University and Museum became more engaging when the students got the opportunity to see a very recently retrieved sculpture of Lord Vishnu from the banks of the Damodar river. They learnt about the process of iconography which involves visual images and symbols used in sculptures and artworks and how it is used to interpret art in different ways.
