Class 10 Trip to Bishnupur

The students of Class 10 of Modern High School for Girls visited Bishnupur from 6th to 8th November, 2022.  Now the headquarters of the subdivision of the same name in Bankura district, Bishnupur is a seat of crafts and culture. Apart from the unique architecture of the period, it is also famous for its terracotta handicrafts and its Baluchari sarees made of tussar silk. On the first day, the students visited the Terracotta Temple and Rasmancha. Later on, they attended a Weavers’ Workshop and observed Bishnupuri silk saree weaving (Swarnachari and Baluchari) at Kanishka Looms. 

On Day 2 the students visited Panchmura that is known for its terracotta handicrafts. The students also participated in a workshop conducted by the terracotta artisans. The trip gave the students the opportunity to explore and appreciate the rich heritage of arts and textiles of rural West Bengal while creating a beautiful bouquet of memories for themselves.
