Harvard Model United Nations

Harvard Model United Nations

HMUN or Harvard Model United Nations was a 3-day conference conducted from 12-15th August in Hyderabad. It was chaired by students of Harvard University and was an enriching experience for the students of IB-1. The conference consisted of 1600+ delegates and 100+ schools. The students of MHSI took part in the: United Nations Human Rights Council, United Nations Environment Program,  United  Nations Commission on Population Development, Syrian National Congress, and United Nations Development Program.

They actively participated in their committees and engaged in the various speaker events and the talent show. HMUN was a great learning opportunity due to exposure to different cultures and competition. It was enriching due to the diverse individuals the delegates could interact with as well as the events such as speaker sessions by United Nations-affiliated officials. The committee sessions themselves were also beneficial as each committee explored a new and unique agenda which was extremely interesting. The schedule was exhausting due to the multitude of events and activities, however, it was worth it. Pakhi Chamaria also won an honorable mention for her remarkable performance in the United Nations Commission on Population Development. To perform better as MUNners for both future and current students it is important to be well-prepared with adequate research on the agenda and your foreign policy. It is also essential to go outside our comfort zone and interact with delegates in your committee for lobbying purposes. Overall, HMUN India 2022 is an experience that the students would not forget easily.
