Game On! Upper Primary Celebrates the FIFA World Cup 2026

Football fever swept through the  Tuesday 7 July 2026 as students of Classes 3 to 5 came together to celebrate their love for the FIFA World Cup. Dressed in the jerseys and colours of their favourite teams, students and teachers transformed the school shed into a vibrant football arena filled with cheers, excitement and team spirit.

The celebration began with interesting facts about the history of the FIFA World Cup and the game of football, giving students a glimpse into the sport’s rich legacy. This was followed by an exciting football quiz, where students impressed everyone with their remarkable knowledge of the game.

A special dance performance to “Dai Dai,” the official anthem of the FIFA World Cup 2026, added to the festive atmosphere, with both students and teachers enthusiastically joining in. Another highlight was the World Cup Prediction Board, where students wrote down their predictions for the team they believed would lift the coveted trophy.

It was a lively and memorable celebration that brought everyone together to share the joy, excitement and true spirit of the beautiful game.

LowerKG – World Music Day and World Yoga Day – 2026

The children of Lower KG  celebrated World Music Day and World Yoga Day with great enthusiasm through a variety of fun and interactive activities.

On World Music Day, they explored the sounds of different musical instruments, identified them through audio clips, coloured matching instrument pictures. They also strengthened their listening and counting skills by counting musical beats and matching them with number flashcards.

During the World Yoga Day celebration, the children enthusiastically imitated different yoga poses using flashcards, enhancing their balance, coordination, concentration and awareness of healthy living. Both celebrations provided joyful learning experiences that nurtured creativity, focus and overall development.

Assembly on Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee

To commemorate the 125th Birth Anniversary of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee on Monday 6 July 2026, a special assembly was conducted by the students of Class 5.

The assembly served as a meaningful opportunity for the students to learn about the life and contributions of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, the founder of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh. The students researched his life and shared interesting facts about his achievements, ideals and his vision for the nation.

Through their presentations, the students paid tribute to his legacy and reflected on the values of patriotism, leadership  and dedication to public service that he stood for. The assembly concluded with a renewed appreciation for his remarkable contributions to the country and inspired the students to uphold these values in their own lives.

Zonal Round of the ASISC Fr. George Hess Literary Competition (Painting)

The students of Modern High School for Girls won laurels for the school at the Zonal Round of the Painting Competition of the Fr. George Hess Literary Competition (ASISC Literary Events 2026), held on 2nd July, 2026 at Elias Meyer F.S. & T.T., Kolkata. Vaarya Kiran Saikia of Class 8A secured First Place in the Sub Junior Category, Suvasika Saha of Class 9B secured First Place in the Junior Category, and Mihikaa Arya of Class 12D secured First Place in the Senior Category.

ASISC Story Telling Competition

Aadya Saraf of Modern High School for Girls was declared as the Winner in the ASISC Story Telling Competition held on 3rd July, 2026.

ASISC Zonal Declamation Results

Modern High School for Girls participated in the ASISC Zonal Declamation Competition, 2026 on 4th July, 2026. Udita Mallick securedthe  Second Position in the Senior category, Soumili Sadhukhan emerged First in the Junior category and Raya Ganguly won the Second Position in the Sub-Junior category.

KALAKOSH* Interschool FIDE Rapid Rating Chess Championship – CHESSMATE 2026

Modern High School for Girls emerged as Champion in the Girls Category at the *KALAKOSH* Interschool FIDE Rapid Rating Chess Championship – CHESSMATE 2026, hosted by South Point High School under the aegis of M.P. Birla Smarak Kosh. A total of 38 teams participated in the tournament.
The winning team members are:
– Vaishnavi Poddar (12-B)
– Eisheekaa Dutta (12-B)
– Mrigakshi Mazumdar (10-A)
– Dhaani Mehta (10-D)
The team received the championship trophy and individual trophies on the day of the competition, 10th April, 2026 and received a total of Rs 10K (Rs.2500 each) and individual certificates on 4th July, 2026  Saturday at Nazrul Manch from the Honourable Sports Minister of West Bengal, Dr. Indranil Khan.

PRISM – South City International School

On 30 June 2026, students from Classes 3, 4 and 5 represented Modern High School for Girls at PRISM, hosted by South City International School.

Our students participated in four events : In Echoes of Expression – Poem Recitation, Tvesha Bhattacharjee (Class 3) delivered a confident performance and was awarded 1st Place. In Qzzie Bees, a quiz based on the theme Around the World, Gunja Ray and Ayana Sen combined their knowledge and teamwork to secure 2nd Place.

Our school was also represented in Matth-O-Mania by Aratrika Chowdhury (Class 5) and Hrisha Ghuwalewala (Class 4) and in Sportshere by Sayesha Bhandari (Class 3), Arohi Agarwal (Class 4) and Pahel Thakker (Class 5).

The event was a rewarding experience, encouraging students to learn, collaborate and grow while interacting with peers from other schools. We congratulate all our participants for representing the school with enthusiasm, commitment and true sporting spirit.

Investiture Ceremony, 2026

Modern High School for Girls held its Senior School Investiture Ceremony on 30th June, 2026. The Head Girl, Deputy Head Girl, Core Committee Members, Captains and Vice Captains of the 8 Houses and the Class 10 Prefects, forming the Student Council for the Academic Year 2026-27 were invested with their respective badges as they took an oath to serve the school to the best of their ability with honour and dignity. It was a moment of pride, responsibility, and aspiration. It instilled leadership, discipline, and commitment among students. As the badges were conferred, emotions of honour and determination prevailed. The ceremony upheld the ethos of trust and service, inspiring young leaders to lead with integrity.

All Bengal School Basketball Championship

Modern High School for Girls participated in the All Bengal School Basketball Championship organised by Indus Valley World School in association with West Bengal Basketball Association. The tournament took place on WBBA courts from 14th to 18th April, 2026.
Our team delivered a commendable performance during the championship. Their dedication and hard work enabled them to reach the Quarter Final stage, which is a significant achievement at such a competitive level.
