Modern High school for Girls was awarded the Label ‘Certified French In School’ by the Institut Français en Inde. MHS for Girls is the only school in Eastern India to have received it. There are less than ten institutions in India which have received this Label and that itself makes this an incredible achievement for the institution. This Label underlines the fact that this school is dedicated to maintaining a high quality of teaching French which ensures fantastic performance of students not only in their school examinations but also in DELF exams (Diplôme d’études en langue Française). The DELF certificates are valued internationally. The ceremony for the formal handing of the plaque took place on the 22nd September, 2026 at the school premises. The Consul Général of France for Kolkata, Monsieur Thiery Morel and the Attachée de Coopération pour le français, Madam Julia Martin handed over the plaque to the Director of MHS for Girls Mrs. D. Kar and the Principal, Mrs D. Mukherjee. The event was marked by a very warm interaction between the school administration, some promising students studying French and the esteemed representatives from the French Consulate of Kolkata.
