Felicity by Mahadevi Birla World Academy

The students of classes 3,4 and 5 of Modern High School for Girls proudly showcased their talent at Felicity Chapter 2, organised by Mahadevi Birla World Academy on 30th January 2026. The event was themed ‘Phir Se Kitaab’ (Back to Books) and was inspired by Vikram Seth’s Beastly Tales from Here and There. It included engaging categories such as Reframing the Verse, Radio Play, Treasure Hunt, Critter Codes, and Swar Tarang.

Our students put in a wonderful performance, winning 1st place in Reframing the Verse, 1st and 2nd place in Treasure Hunt, 3rd place in Radio Play and a Special Prize for Critter Codes. Their success was a true reflection of their creativity, teamwork, problem-solving abilities and collaborative spirit.

Inter-School Invitation Relay at Mahadevi Birla World Academy

Class 5 students of Modern High School for Girls participated in the Inter-School Invitation Relay held at Mahadevi Birla World Academy on 19 December 2025. The team secured the 3rd position.

Spellympics 2025- BHS Mukundapur

   

On 16th December 2025, Modern High School for Girls proudly secured the second position at Spellympics, hosted by Birla High School, Mukundapur. Our talented students Rinisha Agarwal, Aamithi Sengupta and Vaani Saraf from the Upper Primary Department took part in the competition and confidently held their own against teams from 20 schools, emerging with flying colours.

The event tested the students’ knowledge of English through a variety of fun yet challenging rounds such as spellings, jumbled words, proverbs, idioms, similes, collective nouns and online word scrambles. The girls thoroughly enjoyed the experience and impressed everyone with their strong language skills. Their enthusiasm, teamwork and hard work truly paid off, making this achievement a moment of pride for all.

Quaestio-Inter-School Quiz Competition

On 10th September, Modern High School for Girls participated in Quaestio, an Inter -School Quiz Competition organised by Birla High School for Boys. Three of our students, Shakumbharee De and Varunavi Modi from Class 5 and Amaira Bhartia from Class 4, competed against 16 schools. They successfully qualified in the preliminary round, which required answering 25 challenging questions. Out of the 16 schools, 8 advanced to the final stage to compete for the champion’s title.

The finals consisted of 6 rounds that included a variety of formats such as mixed bag, audio-visual, missing links, riddles and the buzzer round. Our students competed with confidence and enthusiasm.

The event was an enriching experience that kept both the participants and the audience engaged and curious until the very end and widened their scope of general awareness.

Blue n White Inter Junior School Quiz

On the 22nd of August 2025,our participants Anirnita Chowdhury, Amaira Bhartia and Shakumbharee De from classes 3, 4 and 5,respectively, headed to St Xavier’s Collegiate School for the Blue n White Inter Junior School Quiz. The event was packed with seven exciting rounds that tested the children’s knowledge in current affairs, nature, wildlife, space, technology, books, authors and the list goes on. The competition had the audience on edge throughout. Our students had a truly valuable experience that taught them about teamwork and quick thinking besides enhancing their general knowledge.

Indradhanush ’25

Students of Modern High School for Girls were selected to represent the school at Indradhanush ’25, an Inter-School Fest hosted by Lakshmipat Singhania Academy. What made the event truly unique was that all activities were kept a surprise, requiring no prior preparation.

On arrival, participants were grouped into mixed-school teams, each representing a Superhero Theme. The day unfolded with exciting challenges such as obstacle races, art competitions, dodgeball and skits with imaginative titles like Trial of the Titans, Rescue Rush, Caring Squad and Relay of Champions.

The fest became a vibrant platform for students to engage in collaboration and teamwork, as they connected with peers from different schools, shared creative ideas and worked together towards common goals. Beyond showcasing their talents, they experienced the joy of learning through cooperation and collective effort. It was a memorable and enriching day that celebrated unity, creativity and the true spirit of working together.

Captain’s Cup Martial Arts Competition 2025

The students of Modern High School for Girls participated in the Captain’s Cup Martial Arts Competition on 15th August 2025. They showcased commendable performances, especially in the Kata events, where the school team secured 4th position in the Open Team category.

In the individual Kata events, class 5 participants — Arna Bhalotia, Arohini Halder, Dhiaana Poddar, Kavya Khater, Riddhima Ghosh, Rudrakshi Chatterjee, Samaira Agarwal, Shivanshika Sanghvi and Zayesha Kamal — won a total of 9 medals: 3 Gold, 2 Silver, 3 Bronze and 1 Copper.

Adding to the success, our Physical Education teacher Mrs.R Mishra won a Silver Medal in the Masters Category (Kata), bringing pride and inspiration to the school. The championship was a true display of skill, discipline and growing enthusiasm for martial arts among our students.

PRISM – Season 2

On 25th July 2025, Modern High School for Girls proudly participated in Prism-Season 2: A Celebration of Young Minds hosted by South City International School. Our students showcased their talents across a variety of events including Echoes of Expression (Poetry Recitation), AD Spoof (Advertisement Enactment) where we secured 3rd place, Dice Dynamite (Mental Maths), Crossnum Quest (Quiz) where we were second runners-up, All That Jazz (Darkness to Light), Do Re Mi (Singing on the theme of peace) and a Harry Potter & Roald Dahl Quiz in which we emerged champions. In Sports Sphere our students participated in the Octopus Race (2nd runners-up) and the Obstacle Race.

The entire day was an unforgettable mix of excitement, effort and achievement. It was a wonderful celebration of talent, friendship and school pride—one that left all of us inspired and proud.

Van Mahotsav 2025

Students of Modern High School proudly showcased their creativity and environmental awareness through enthusiastic participation in Van Mahotsav 2025 and St. Xavier’s Fest, both hosted by St. Xavier’s Collegiate School (Primary Section).

At Van Mahotsav 2025, twelve students from the Upper Primary Department participated in four events. A Class 5 student secured the 2nd prize in “Verde–Verse: Just A Minute (J.A.M.),” while the school’s dance team won 2nd prize in “Groove for the Green” (Group Dance). Participants in T-shirt painting and Pot painting also performed commendably, helping the school earn the prestigious “Best School” trophy.

At St. Xavier’s Fest, students took part in diverse competitions such as Meraki – PowerPoint Presentation, Birdhouse making, Toy making, Umbrella painting, and a Group Song performance. Each event reflected the theme “Trees: Contribution in Nurturing Nature,” with students expressing this message through thoughtful designs and soulful performances.

Their efforts across both events demonstrated not only talent and teamwork, but also a strong commitment to environmental values.

Quizzinius 2024

Aishani Poddar of Class 5 and Shakumbharee De of Class 4 represented Modern High School in  Quizzinius 2024, an annual quiz festival celebrating its fifth edition, organised by Delhi Public School, Ruby Park. It took place on the 22nd and 23rd of November 2024. Leading schools in Kolkata participated in this competition. Our students qualified for the final round, which was contested by six schools. The questions asked were on a variety of topics and there were six rounds. It was a proud moment for us when it was announced that our school had come first in the competition.
