Educational Field Trip to Orissa

An educational field visit to Puri, including Konark Sun Temple, Pipli and Raghurajpur, was organized from 26 February to 1 March, 2026 for the students of Modern High School for Girls. The visit provided a rich cultural and historical learning experience. Students explored the architectural magnificence of the Konark Sun Temple, the spiritual heritage of Puri, the vibrant applique craft of Pipli and the traditional Pattachitra art of Raghurajpur.

The students participated in hands-on workshops with local artisans, field sketching and maintaining field notes. Heritage documentation and discussions on temple symbolism enhanced their observational and interpretative skills.

Storytelling Session with Mr Rajesh Shinde

On Saturday 7 March 2026, the students of Classes 4 and 5 gathered in the school garden for an engaging storytelling session conducted by Mr Rajesh Shinde, a renowned storyteller, actor, filmmaker and teacher, popularly known as Kathaasur. Known for blending humour, drama and meaningful messages, he uses stories to entertain as well as inspire young audiences.

During the session, Mr Shinde narrated an entertaining story in Hindi about a rakshas named Kathaasur, explaining how the character got his name while conveying the message that one should not be easily gullible or believe everything one sees or hears.

Through the story, he also highlighted the wisdom in stories shared by our elders and the importance of staying connected with family members. He encouraged students not to blindly believe information on social media but to always question and fact-check.

His lively narration, filled with humour, action and interaction, kept the students engaged throughout the session. The storytelling session was greatly enjoyed and left the students with valuable lessons about family, wisdom and critical thinking.

Lower KG Germination Activity

The Children of Lower KG did a Germination Activity in the school garden on 26 & 27 February .Our students became little gardeners and discovered how a tiny seed grows into a plant.

They soaked gram seeds in cotton at home and carefully observed how the seeds sprouted and germination took place. The children then brought their sprouted seeds to school and, with the help of our school gardeners, gently planted the saplings in the small earthen pots they had brought. They watered their plants and happily took them back home to continue caring for them.

It was a wonderful hands-on learning experience for the children. They also learnt about the different parts of a plant and how plants grow and need care.

Guest Edition of TOI by MHS Student Reporters

Student reporters of Classes 9 and 11 visited the The Times of India office on 26th February,2026 with their mentors to work on the Guest Edition for the News in Education segment. The visit proved to be both productive and enriching, offering students valuable insight into the inner workings of print media and the collaborative process behind publishing a newspaper.

Class 4 School Excursion

On 27th February 2026, the students of Class 4 enjoyed an enriching visit to the Indian Museum. The guided tour turned into a fascinating journey through history and science as they explored the various galleries. While the coin gallery helped them to discover how currency has evolved over the centuries, the rare fossils and the zoology department revealed stories of life from millions of years ago. Moreover, the beautifully carved remains of the Bharhut Stupa left them in awe of India’s ancient heritage and the sight of the Egyptian mummy sparked great curiosity about ancient civilizations and their burial traditions.

The memorable visit was followed by a delightful picnic at the Eden Park, where the students enjoyed snacks, laughter and fun moments with their classmates. It was truly a day of learning, joy and unforgettable experiences.

Class 5 Excursion to the Indian Museum, Eden Garden and Eden Park

On 25th February 2026 the Class 5 students of Modern High School for Girls went on an excursion to the Indian Museum, Eden Gardens and Eden Park.

At the Indian Museum the students explored the Archaeological Gallery, the Coins Section, the Sculpture Gallery, the Egyptian Gallery and the Zoological Gallery. The guides explained the exhibits clearly which made the visit very educational and interesting.

At Eden Gardens the students learnt about the history of the famous stadium. They visited the clubhouse, the press block, the players’ changing rooms and the press conference room. It was an interactive session where they were encouraged to take interest in sports and sports journalism.

The excursion was both informative and enjoyable. The students returned to school with happy memories and valuable knowledge from the day.

Bengal Rowing Club Run

Naina Dinodiya of Class 8C secured the First position in her age category (Female: 11-13 years) in the 10 km run at Bengal Rowing Club held on January 25th, 2026.

Intach FilmIt Competition

The students from Modern High School for Girls participated in the Intach FilmIt competition on 5th February, 2026 and secured the Best Story Award for their short film ‘The Legacy of Kites’ and The Best Film With A Message Award for ‘The First Drape’.

Lower KG – Reading Day Activity

The children of Lower KG observed Reading Day on 20 February 2026. They were taken to the school garden for a delightful reading session amidst nature. Surrounded by greenery, they were encouraged to read their favourite storybooks, making the experience both refreshing and inspiring. This initiative not only exposed them to a variety of storybooks but also helped them discover the true joy of reading. It was an enjoyable and enriching activity for our little readers.
