On 3rd September, 2025, the students of Group 2 Economics of Modern High School for Girls went on an excursion to the RBI Museum. Located at 8, Council House Street, this heritage property provides an immersive experience into the realm of money, banking and finance. The students first watched an engaging video that provided an overview of the history of RBI following which, their guide, Dr Amar Kanti Chattopadhyay, took them on a tour of the museum. The students were greeted by a vast collection of artefacts such as the Yap Stone, exhibits and interactive displays that provided valuable insights into the evolution of money. The students were thrilled to visit the Gold Vault and learn about the various aspects of gold. What fascinated the students the most was measuring their own weight in terms of gold bars on a machine and learning about the inflationary pressures over the years through an appealing chart. Dr Chattopadhyay showed the students the ‘Munim ki Peti’, taking them through the changing landscape of credit and the significant events of RBI. After witnessing the process of bond making, the students played interactive games that combined economic concepts and engaging activities.
