Psycon 2026

Two students and teachers of Modern High School for Girls attended a session at ‘Psycon 2026’ on the topic ‘Understanding Challenges in Learning During Adolescence’ organised by Manovikas Kendra on 11th September, 2026. It was an enriching and insightful experience, bringing together doctors, psychiatrists, teachers from ICSE, CBSE and West Bengal Bengali-medium schools, students, parents and counsellors.
The participants were divided into three groups, teachers, students and parents, for separate interactive sessions with doctors and psychiatrists where they shared their concerns and challenges, while the experts offered their perspectives and possible solutions. The cultural presentation by the special children of Manovikas Kendra, including a delightful Talbadya performance, was another memorable part of the programme.
Overall, it was a highly enriching and thought-provoking experience that provided valuable insights into the concerns of teachers, students and parents and encouraged all to reflect on practical ways of supporting children within the existing educational framework.

CISCE National Football Tournament 2026

The West Bengal team reached the final against Maharashtra and secured the Second Position in CISCE National Football Tournament 2026. Shreya Sengupta of Modern High School for Girls has been selected for SGFI (School Games Federation of India).

Computer Science Masterclass

A Computer Science Masterclass was attended by the Class 12 students of Modern High School for Girls on 18th September, 2026. Dr. Saikat Maity, a member of the Computer Science Engineering Faculty of Sister Nibedita University was the resource person. He spoke about ‘Basics of Python’ which enabled students to widen their horizons and explore the topic beyond the prescribed curriculum.

Symphony 2026

On 19 September 2026, the Bulbuls from Modern High School participated in Symphony, an inter-school fest celebrating creativity and teamwork.

Competing across four diverse categories—Dance, Rangoli Making, Canvas Painting and Non-Fire Cooking—they showcased exceptional artistic skill, coordination, confidence and team spirit. Their hard work paid off remarkably and  they secured the First Position in all four events.This earned them the prestigious Overall Winners’ Trophy.

It was a wonderful, memorable day filled with joy, excitement and immense pride for students, teachers and the school.

Mit allen Sinnen durch Deutschland – Exploring Frankfurt

Ten enthusiastic students from Classes 5 and 6 participated in the workshop “Mit allen Sinnen durch Deutschland” (With All Senses through Germany) on 18th September 2026 at the Goethe-Institut Kolkata.

As part of this exciting workshop series, the students explored the city of Frankfurt through a range of engaging and playful activities. They discovered interesting aspects of the city, its culture and everyday life while learning about Germany in an interactive way.

Through games, creative tasks and hands-on activities, the students experienced Landeskunde beyond the textbook. They had the opportunity to learn, interact and discover Frankfurt using all their senses, making the learning experience both meaningful and enjoyable.

The workshop encouraged curiosity, creativity, teamwork and active participation, allowing the young learners to connect language learning with German culture. The students thoroughly enjoyed the experience and gained new insights into Frankfurt and Germany in a fun and memorable way.

Class 12 Batch Trip to Hyderabad

The Batch of 2027 embarked on an enriching and memorable trip to Hyderabad from 5th to 8th September, 2026. The students visited Golconda Fort, Charminar, Chowmahalla Palace, Ramoji Film City, Birla Mandir, and the B.M. Birla Science Centre. The journey was both informative and enjoyable, providing valuable learning experiences and cherished memories.

Entrepreneurship Masterclass 2026

A Masterclass on Entrepreneurship was attended by the students of Class 11 of Modern High School for Girls on 28th July, 2026. The topic for the session was ‘Entrepreneurship Unplugged: Turning Ideas Into Action’  and was conducted by Dr.Amrita Bihani, the Assistant Professor & Assistant Director, Family Business and Entrepreneurship Programme, Ahmedabad University.

Clean Club Tree Plantation Drive in collaboration with Rotary Club

On 4th August, 2026, the Clean Club members participated in a tree plantation drive at Lion’s Safari Park, Kolkata, organized by ‘Concern for Earth’ in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Belur. The programme aimed to spread awareness about environmental conservation and the importance of preserving biodiversity.
The session began with an interactive talk by the resource person, Mr. Santosh Mehta, who introduced students to a variety of medicinal plants and explained their uses. The plants discussed included the Insulin Plant, Giloy, Hadjod, Lemongrass, Thankuni, Gudmar, Kalmegh, Mentha, Pan, Nayantara, Patharchatta, and Curry Leaves. Students also had the opportunity to taste some of these plants and learn about their medicinal properties.
Following the session, the participants planted saplings as part of the tree plantation drive. A guided walk around the park allowed students to observe different species of plants and trees, including banana trees, while learning about the importance of maintaining green spaces and protecting the environment.
The programme concluded with a group rendition of an environmental awareness song carrying the message of reducing pollution and planting more trees. Before dispersing, every participant was presented with a snake plant to take home as a memento of the event and to encourage continued care for plants beyond the programme. The visit successfully combined environmental education with practical activities, providing students with valuable exposure to nature and the significance of tree plantation.

Magic of Maths

‘Magic of Maths’, an inter-class mathematics session on 16th September , 2026 included students of Class 12 teaching the students of Class 8. This was a fun approach of combining learning with social interaction where the Senior students taught the concepts of plotting of graphs through a practical, hands-on experience.
