IGNITE 2025 : MHS Science Exhibition

Science is a journey of the mind where we explore the unknown with curiosity, discover what others overlook, and invent what the world has yet to imagine
The students of Classes 6 to 12 participated enthusiastically in IGNITE: MHS Science Exhibition on 28th June, 2025 because science begins with a question, grows with discovery, and changes the world through invention. The faculty, parents and students came together to enjoy a day of sheer excitement that left all feeling ‘ignited’ for sure!

And the excitement continues to build up as we head towards 28th June, 2025 when MHS will open its doors for the grand opening of the Science Exhibition. A few glimpses of students and faculty hard at work setting up the exhibits. We are looking forward to a day of igniting curiosities, raising questions and exploring the fantastic innovations of the young minds!

Rabindra Jayanti 2025

The students of Modern High School for Girls celebrated Rabindra Jayanti on 8th May, 2025 or the 25th day of the Bengali month of ‘Boisakh’ to commemorate the 164th birth anniversary of Nobel laureate, Rabindranath Tagore. The MHS team presented Tagore’s ‘Sukh Dukkho’, ‘Tota Kahini’ and ‘ Valmiki Pratibha’. From heart- touching musical renditions of songs and dance to recitations of his brilliant literary pieces by the students, it was a humble effort on the parts of the faculty members and the students to celebrate the multi-faceted artist whom we acknowledge as the Bard of Bengal. Tagore evokes a plethora of emotions in all of us through the immense beauty of the artistic compositions in his oeuvre and will continue to thrive in our hearts as we remember him through his creations.

International Yoga Week 2025

Students of Classes 6 to 12 at Modern High School for Girls celebrated International Yoga Day through a week-long Yoga Week observed from 17th June to 23rd June, 2025 during their Physical Education classes.

Throughout the week, students actively participated in yoga sessions that began with warm-up exercises to prepare the body for performing basic to advanced yoga asanas. They practiced asanas such as Utkatasana, Trikonasana, Ardha Chakrasana, Vajrasana, Padmasana, and relaxation poses like Sukhasana.

Alongside the physical practice, students were also taught about the benefits and contraindications of each asana, promoting safe and mindful yoga habits.

The main objective of celebrating Yoga Week was to create awareness about the connection between the body, mind, and soul, and to encourage students to adopt yoga as a part of their daily lifestyle for holistic well-being.

Market Survey on Fabrics

Fashion Designing students of Class 12 of Modern High School for Girls went for a Market Survey on Fabrics on 20th June, 2025

Visit to National University of Singapore, 2025

Students from Classes 9 and 10 of Modern High School for Girls visited the National University of Singapore to attend the Summer Camp. It was an enriching experience as they attended lectures, made presentations and participated in hands-on activities and experiments, exploring topics beyond the general curriculum.

Prize Day 2025

Modern High School for Girls celebrated the Annual Prize Day on 9th May, 2025 with great enthusiasm, honouring the achievements of our talented students. The event featured cultural performances and the distribution of awards for academic excellence and co-curricular accomplishments. It was a proud moment for students, parents, and teachers, highlighting dedication, discipline, and the spirit of success.

Colours of Concern Event

Nitya Himatsingka of class 12E has started a passion project named ‘Brainbow’ which aims to create awareness about children with special needs and help them find a voice in our community. She collaborated with Concern India Foundation and helped raise funds to the amount of ₹ 1,20,000 for them on the crowdfunding platform Ketto . Nitya led an event called Colours of Concern on 29th march, 2025, an initiative by Concern India Foundation which aims to help special children express their emotions through the medium of various arts. It was attended by 60 children from 3 NGOs namely Asha Bhavan Centre, Mentaid and Mental Health and Wellness Trust.

Chinese Cultural Day

Students from Modern High School for Girls participated in the celebration of Chinese Cultural Day in April 2025. The event was organized by the School of World languages, Kolkata. the Chinese Consul General, Mr. Xu Wei graced the occasion that aimed at celebrating the rich heritage and fostering cross-cultural exchange.
