On November 1, 2025, the Junior School teachers of Modern High School for Girls attended a workshop as part of the Teachers’ Development Programme. The session, titled-The C’s that Matter was conducted by Mrs. Saba Islam, an educator by passion, a parent coach by profession and an emotional intelligence coach by practice.
Mrs. Islam emphasized the four essential C’s that play a vital role in every classroom — Critical Thinking, Creativity, Communication and Collaboration. She spoke about the powerful influence teachers have in shaping the lives of their students and highlighted ways to nurture these skills effectively.
The session was lively and full of hands-on activities that brought laughter, reflection and meaningful discussions. Each activity encouraged us to think differently and helped us understand how to nurture the 4 C’s in our students every day.
The workshop served as a meaningful reminder that as educators, we are not just imparting knowledge but also inspiring young minds to think, create, connect and grow together
On 18th September 2025, the students of Classes 3, 4 and 5 at Modern High School for Girls came together to celebrate Hindi Diwas with great enthusiasm. Although Hindi Diwas is traditionally observed on 14th September, the school marked the occasion a few days later so that everyone could participate and enjoy the festivities. The programme sought to honour Hindi as a unifying language and to highlight its cultural and literary significance.
The young performers captivated the audience with a vibrant line-up of dances, soulful songs, expressive poetry recitations and a lively skit. Their energy and sincerity made the programme both joyful and inspiring, reminding everyone of the beauty and richness of the language we share.
This Independence Day, our Class 4 students presented a captivating performance under the theme ‘Stand Tall, Stand Proud.’ The celebration began with a spirited flag-hoisting ceremony by our Guides, followed by the students’ inspiring showcase of India’s resilience and achievements over the years.
Their energetic dances, meaningful songs, and powerful narrations beautifully showcased India’s journey — from the Green and White Revolutions to pioneering space exploration and life-saving vaccine development. The Chipko Movement beautifully tied the theme to environmental conservation, reminding us to stand tall for our planet.
To share this joy on a wider platform, a Special Show was held for parents on Thursday 21 August 2025. The performances left everyone with a renewed sense of pride and patriotism, reminding us all to truly Stand Tall and Stand Proud as Indians.
As part of our ongoing commitment to the Professional Development of our teachers, the Junior School organised an Interactive Session on Nurturing Teachers’ Wellbeing which was conducted by Dr. J R Ram, an eminent psychiatrist of Kolkata.
The insightful session provided a reflective space for educators to focus on their own mental and emotional health—an often overlooked area in our busy schedule. Dr. Ram addressed issues like triggers for stress, coping mechanisms, balancing workload, time management, mindfulness and other factors leading to anxiety, burnout and depression.
The interactive session, enriched with relatable examples and gentle humour was both engaging and eye-opening. It was an enriching experience that reminded us that caring of our students begins with caring for ourselves. As educators, we felt empowered with practical tools, renewed purpose and a deeper understanding of our own well-being.
The air was filled with energy as the lively Bulbuls of Modern High School for Girls, Guide Group, came together to celebrate Van Mahotsav Week with great spirit and purpose. With muddy hands and bright smiles, these young nature lovers set out on a heartfelt mission—to make their surroundings greener and remind everyone that even the smallest hands can help grow the tallest trees.
With saplings in their hands and smiles on their faces, the Bulbuls planted many trees around the school. Each sapling was a special promise to take care of the Earth. They also made bright and colourful posters that shared important messages about saving nature. Their artwork caught everyone’s attention and made people stop and think.
Through their efforts, the Bulbuls sent out a clear message: “The Earth is our home—let’s protect it together!
World Music Day struck a perfect chord on 19th June 2025, filling the air with harmony, rhythm, and boundless joy. It was a day where music wasn’t just heard — it was felt, seen, and celebrated in every vibrant form.
From start to finish, the event was brilliantly conducted by our talented young performers, who took charge with enthusiasm and flair. The program featured soul-stirring songs sung by students and a range of fun, interactive activities that kept everyone grooving.
The body percussion exercises were a big hit, as students and teachers clapped, thumped, and snapped their way into rhythmic patterns using just their bodies. It was a lively reminder that music lives within us all.
Adding a splash of colour to the rhythm, students waved red, white, and blue ribbons in perfect sync with musical cues, transforming the atmosphere into a visual masterpiece.
Our budding musicians proudly showcased their talents on the guitar, mouth organ, violin, flute, and synthesizer, compelling everyone to sing along. A musical quiz conducted by the students further amped up the excitement, testing everyone’s musical IQ in a fun and engaging way.
The celebration was a true testament to the healing power of music — not just for the ears, but for the heart and soul. The day ended on a cheerful note, but the melodies lingered long after the last song was sung.
On June 20th, our Upper Primary students embraced the spirit of International Yoga Day with enthusiasm and curiosity. The event was filled with fun activities like stretching, breathing exercises, and relaxing moments that helped everyone feel calm and refreshed.
Students enjoyed learning new ways to stay active and focused while supporting each other with kindness. It was heartwarming to see students trying their best, sharing laughs, and discovering how small moments of mindfulness can make a big difference in their day.
The day reminded us how simple, mindful practices can nurture lifelong wellbeing. As the event wrapped up, students left feeling proud, energized, and ready to bring these healthy habits into their daily lives!
The children of Class 1 celebrated Rabindra Jayanti on 9 May 2025. They came dressed in the colours of the four elements, ie fire, water, air and earth. They enthusiastically performed a poem and a few songs, that were chosen in keeping with this theme.
Simple information on Rabindra Nath Tagore was also shared in class.
On the occasion of Rabindra Jayanti the students of Upper KG sang songs written by Tagore and recited a few lines from the poem Paper Boats. They also made paper hand bands and drew paper boats in their books
On May 6th, Class 3s celebrated the magic of Rabindranath Tagore through the eyes of our little artists! The life and work of the great poet, philosopher, and Nobel Laureate was celebrated through songs, dances, recitations and speeches.
The spirit of Tagore came alive through the children’s presentation and reminded us why Tagore remains so important even today. He believed that learning should be joyful and connected to nature, an idea that still influences modern education. His work reminded children to stay curious, be creative, and live with love for all living beings.
Even in today’s digital world, Tagore’s words light up young hearts and remind them that true learning is about freedom, creativity, and joy.
