64th West Bengal State School Aquatics Meet

Vedika Himatsingka – Class VIII B represented Modern High School for Girls in the 64th West Bengal State School Aquatics Meet held at RSP Kendra, Netaji Sangha, Rajarhat, and secured 2nd position in 50 meters Freestyle in swimming.  She has also been selected to represent Modern High School for Girls (West Bengal) in the 64th National School Games in the Under 14 years category in New Delhi by the West Bengal State Council for School Games and Sports.

 

Birangana (Bravery) Award

Dipeeta Das Mukherjee of our first batch of the great IB Program was awarded by the state government on the 20th of November, 2018—the Birangana (Bravery) Award. Dr. Sashi Panja, Hon’ble MoS, and Smt. Ananya Chakraborti, Hon’ble Chairperson of WBCPCR, presented Dipeeta with a certificate, memento, cash prize, and a huge gift bag for her role in upholding child rights and social work. Renowned singer Mr. Soumitra Roy praised her on the dais by announcing that he loved reading her book, From Wonderland To Reality, and author Mr. Prashun Bhowmik complimented her. Among those present as guests were Honb’le Justice Nadira Patheyra, Honb’le Justice Asim Roy, IAS Officer Mrs. Sanghamitra Ghosh, and several eminent personalities from the media and UNICEF.

 

Infinit

MHS was the 2nd runner-up in Infinity held by Laxmipat Singhania Academy.

Bosco Fest

MHS got the Best School award at the Bosco Fest held by Don Bosco School.

Confluence

MHS was the 1st runner-up in Confluence, which was held by Calcutta International School

IIT Kharagpur Young Innovator’s Programme

MHS, represented by Rukmini Gupta, Ritwika Goswami, and Srija Bhattacharya of Class IX, was among the top 6 schools with its Project Sourodeep. It was a project to demonstrate enhancing light transmission through solar bottle bulbs in homes without electricity.

Tagyaa Parakh

Achievements Tagyaa Parakh (VIII B) in Squash in the Sanmarg newspaper edition of 06th October 2018.

 

CISCE Swimming Competition

Vedika Himatsingka (Class VIII B) came third in the CISCE Swimming Competition, which was held in Valsad on 05th October 2018.

Innovative German Teaching Methods

Modern High School for Girls is the proud winner of the competition between PASCH Schools in Kolkata to develop innovative German teaching methods for beginners on the occasion of the 10th Anniversary of the PASCH Programme. The competition was organised by the German Consulate in Kolkata and MHS will receive prize money equivalent to EURO 2500.
