Inter School Aquatic Meet, 2019

Modern High School for Girls participated in the 5th Inter School Aquatic Meet, 2019, held at Mahadevi Birla World Academy amongst 14 other schools. Our school was the overall champion in 3 categories, thus, the winners of the meet. There were 19 participants, out of which 14 won in various events. All the swimmers were very focused and determined and it showed in their results:

MHS students who have opted for Chinese have received certificates for completing the Mandarin classes in the academic session (2018/19) successfully.

Brisha Jain

Brisha Jain of Class VIII D, during her summer vacation, attended Manipal University under the aegis of the fully residential Asset Summer Programme, where she graduated in a course on Numerical Methods, Causal Inference, and Data Science. She thoroughly enjoyed this scholarly adventure and presented a project on “ Airline Safety,” which used advanced concepts such as correlation coefficients and regression models using data visualisation software Qliksense.

Ayana Jain – Class I C

During the Summer Vacation, Ayana participated actively in the chess arena in two tournaments whereas she stood third in another such competition.

1. Champion (Under 7) in 45th W. B. Fide rated State Women Chess Championship 2019;

2. Champion ( Under 6) in 4th the Heritage School’s Chess Championship 2019;

3. Third in ( Under 7) in State under 15, Fide rated tournament.

She also took part in a skating competition organized by skating clubs in Kolkata being State Summer Race 2019 at and therefore won a silver medal for her sprint in the under 6 age category.

District Swimming Championship

Vedika Himatsingka – Class IX A participated in the District Swimming Championship held by Calcutta District Swimming Association at College Square Swimming Club between 25/05/19 and 28/05/19 and won in the under-noted events :

50  meters Freestyle – 1st (Gold)

100 meters Freestyle – 1st (Gold)

200 meters Freestyle – 2nd (Silver)

100 Meters Butterfly – 2nd (Silver)

50 meters Butterfly  –  3rd (Bronze)

Vedika has been further selected to represent Calcutta District to participate in the State Age Group Swimming Championship to be held at Burdwan in the month of June.
