Anandini Sengupta – Class 8 B

The Poetry Society, London, awarded the title of Foyle Young Poets of the Year Commended Poet 2021 to Anandini Sengupta of Class 8B on Friday, 22nd October 2021.

The  Society was founded in 1909 to promote recognition and appreciation of poetry. They run the Foyle Young Poets of the Year Award annually.

This year, Anandini has been selected as one of the top 100 poets out of about 15,000 poets from children aged between 11-17 years from 107 countries.

She attended an award ceremony (virtually), which was held in London, and her prizes, comprising books, stationery, and certificates, were sent to her by post from there.

Jaco MUN 2021

Seven senior students of MHS  participated in Jaco MUN 2021, which was hosted by St. James’ School, Kolkata, over the 16th, 17th, & 18th of July, 2021.

Junior History Championships 2021

851 students competed from 27 schools, answering 474,129 questions!

MHS  placed among the Top 3 Schools. We came second by Total Points and by Average Score.

18th West Bengal Closed Squash Championship

Kasshvi Doshi, class 8D, has won the 18th West Bengal Closed Squash Championship in the ‘Under-15, Girls’ category. This tournament was held at the Rackets Club from 22nd March to 26th March 2021.

Congratulations on Kasshvi’s wonderful achievement.

English Department Activity

Atira Dewan, class 6B; Adya Kheria, class 3A; Debadrita Ghosh Dastidar, class 6A; Ahaana Kandoi, class 8A; and Anisha Mohta of class 7B represented the school at the LitWitz Poetry Workshop on the 26th of March, 2021.

Atira Dewan came 2nd in Category 2, with a special mention to Adya Kheria and Debadrita Ghosh Dastidar.

In Category 3, Ahaana Kandoi came 2nd. A special mention in this category to Anisha Mohta.

State Sprint Rowing Championship

Sreshtha Sureka, class 10 C, Ishika Das, class 9 C, Varija Dhandhania, class 10 B, and Yashita Choraria, class 9 B, won gold medals in their respective categories in the recently concluded State Sprint Rowing Competition 2021.

Yashita Choraria and Varija Dhandhania were felicitated by the West Bengal Rowing Association for winning bronze in the Nationals in 2019.
