Interest and Passion
- Choose a subject that aligns with one’s interests and passion.
Current Trends and Opportunities
- Research current trends and emerging fields. Newer fields like data science, AI, environmental sciences, etc., might have an impact on one’s decision.
Peer Pressure
- Avoid choosing a stream based solely on peer pressure or societal expectations. The decision should be personal and aligned with one’s own aspirations.
Scope for Higher Studies
- Consider the scope for higher studies after Class 12.
Job Market and Opportunities
- Research the current job market for the careers associated with one’s chosen subject combination. Some industries might be in high demand, while others may be oversaturated.
Keep Future Flexibility in Mind
- The world is evolving rapidly. Some courses might evolve, merge, or even become obsolete. Pursuing a course with the flexibility to adapt to future changes can help future-proof one’s career.
Skill Development
- Focus on acquiring hands-on skills that will be applicable in the workplace. For example, coding, data analysis, research, critical thinking and communication skills are valuable across fields.
- Before committing to a higher study path, internships in one’s field of interest can help one gain practical insights and may guide academic decisions.
