Meghna Chakravorty (MHS Batch of 2017) has cleared the UPSC Civil Services Exam 2024 with an All India Rank of 79 and is the topper from West Bengal. She will be allocated a position in either the Indian Administrative Service or the Indian Foreign Service. She graduated from MHS in 2017 with a score of 98.25% in her ISC Board examinations. Thereafter, she pursued a degree in B.A. History Honours from St. Stephen’s College and an M.A. in Politics and International Relations from Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi. Passionate about these subjects from her middle school years, Meghna aspired to serve the country as a diplomat in the IFS. However, during her years studying at public universities, she cultivated greater social consciousness regarding developmental challenges within India. The multi-dimensional crises precipitated by the COVID-19 pandemic, in particular, motivated her to work in public policy and governance through the IAS. Being the second highest scorer in the country in the Interview round of the UPSC Civil Services Exam, Meghna credits the cumulative process of personality development throughout her formative school and college years. She feels immensely grateful for having received opportunities to foster critical thinking, public speaking and leadership skills within a nurturing environment of curiosity and learning as this enabled her to perform well in the Interview with clarity of thought and conviction.
