A short programme was held, with meaningful talks on Renewable and Non-Renewable resources, highlighting and promoting the benefits of renewable energy. The event also featured Earth Day songs, facts about when the first Earth day was celebrated.
It was important to make students understand that these projects are not time bound and only to ‘celebrate’ the day. Earth day and thinking about the environment needs to be done everyday and there must be a genuine desire to make a positive change.
Which is why students their 2 previous and ongoing projects
1. “Give Me 10” initiative—encouraging families to wait 10 minutes before turning on the AC—to conserve energy and reduce CFLs.
2. Collecting paper & plastic waste which was sent for recycling.
This year they are learning about ‘composting’, its process, and how it benefits the environment by recycling waste into rich organic material.
A special highlight was the Class 3 “Disconnect to Reconnect” campaign, where families engaged in a digital detox over the weekend. They spent quality time star gazing, playing games, storytelling, and preparing meals together—proving that reconnecting with loved ones can be both fun and eco-friendly.
