A mathematics masterclass was conducted on 5th July, 2023 for the mathematics students of Class 12 of Modern High School for Girls. Titled ‘Leonard Euler meets Sherlock Holmes’, the masterclass covered the application of number theory in cryptography. Professor Ananda Dasgupta, Associate Professor at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research in Kolkata, conducted the enriching session. Professor Dasgupta explained the method of relaying messages in code which seemed complicated at first sight but was explained in simple mathematical terms. The masterclass was extremely engaging and thought-provoking. The students who attended left the session eager to learn more about the application of mathematics in intriguing fields, like cryptography.
A Masterclass for the Class 12 Political Science students of Modern High School for Girls was held on 27th June, 2022. Dr. Satyagraha Sinha from Presidency University was the resource person who spoke extensively about ‘India In The Globalized World’. It was an extremely enlightening session and it encouraged the students to venture beyond the prescribed curriculam.
