Inter House Quiz

On 7 November 2025 the Upper Primary students of Modern High School for Girls took part in an exciting Inter-House Quiz Competition. The eight houses — Champak, Gulmohur, Hibiscus, Jasmine, Lotus, Magnolia, Orchid and Rose — competed with great enthusiasm.
Each house was represented by four bright participants from Classes 4 and 5. The quiz had five exciting rounds — General Knowledge, Incredible India, Audio, Visual and the thrilling Buzzer Round where each team raced against the clock to answer five rapid-fire questions in just 30 seconds!

The audience which included students from Classes 3 to 5 cheered loudly and enjoyed answering some fun audience questions. The quiz was full of excitement and energy. After a close and thrilling contest Lotus House won the title of the 2025 Quiz Champions!

It was a fun and enjoyable morning filled with learning, teamwork and friendly competition.

Junior Inter-House Table Tennis & Badminton Tournaments 2025

The Junior Department came alive with energy and excitement from 4 July 2025, as students from all eight houses competed in the much-awaited Inter-House Table Tennis and Badminton Tournaments.

In Table Tennis SinglesChitrita Dhanuka of Jasmine House played brilliantly to win the title, while Alia Rajgarhia of Magnolia House finished as runner-up.
The Doubles match saw an impressive performance by Kaira Bhaya and Sumedha Gupta of Jasmine House, who won the tournament, while Vani Agarwal and Dia Khetan of Magnolia House gave them tough competition and came in second.

The Badminton Singles final was intense, with Vani Agarwal of Magnolia House taking the win, and Ashwika Bhuwalka of Rose House finishing as runner-up.
In Badminton DoublesShivanshika Sanghavi and Abhipsha Mitter of Lotus House emerged as champions, while Shanaya Goenka and Amaira Jain put up a great fight to claim the runner-up spot.

The matches were filled with exciting rallies, close finishes, and great sportsmanship. All players showed amazing effort and enthusiasm, making the tournament a fun and memorable event for everyone involved. However for the first time, walk overs had to be given as some students ‘forgot’ they had games on a Monday morning. Disappointing for the House and particularly for the participants who did come for the game and were left partnerless. We trust this is a first and last time occurance.

Junior Inter House Badminton Tournament – 2024

This year the Junior Department Inter House Badminton tournament was held on 13th September 2024.

In the singles category, the runners-up was Krisha Bansal of Hibiscus House, and the winner was Eshna Chatterjee of Magnolia House. In the doubles category, the runners-up were Malini Naik and Kavya Bagaria of Jasmine House and the winners were Navni Bansal and Chitrangana Arora of Magnolia House.

Junior Inter House Table Tennis – 2024

This year the Junior Department Inter House Table Tennis tournament was held on 26th July. The eight houses competed against each other. In the singles category, the runner-up was Paroma Mukherjee of the Lotus House and the winner was Rihanna Manihar of Magnolia House. In the doubles category, the runners-up were Samaaira Neemaani and Kiara Mirchandani of the Rose House and the winners were Navni Bansal and Dia Khaitan of Magnolia House.

Inter House Quiz

On 30th August 2024, we held our ‘Annual Inter House Quiz Competition.’ The students of classes 4 and 5, representing the eight houses, participated with enthusiasm. There were six rounds: audio, visual, connect, half a minute, mixed bag, and who/what am I.  Questions on a variety of subjects like wildlife, current affairs, science, books, places of interest, and so on were asked.  Gulmohar House won the competition and placed first, followed by Lotus in second and Orchid in third place.

Inter House Quiz 2023

On 29th October 2023, the students of classes 4 and 5 spent an afternoon quizzing through questions on the Sciences, Current Affairs and lots more. The audience was just as enthusiastic as the participants, often answering questions that were posed to them. Champak House came in first followed by Gulmohar in second and Lotus in third place.

Inter-House Elocution – 2023

The students of classes 3, 4 and 5 participated in  exciting Inter House Elocution competitions  in English, Hindi and Bengali. They were judged on various criteria including choice of poems, voice modulation, enunciation, clarity, expressions  and confidence. Each put in her best and performed well, making it tough for the judges to choose winners.

Inter House Table Tennis – 2023

Table Tennis is a sport which is enjoyable, fun, and exciting. We had our  Table Tennis matches  from the 25th to the 28th of September. On the days of the matches, many students who wanted to watch came early to  support and cheer their houses as a nice gesture towards the participants.

The finals were played on the 28th of September both for singles and doubles. The winner in singles was Jasmine and the runner-up was Lotus.

Inter House Badminton – 2023

Badminton trials started with zeal and soon it was time for the final  matches to begin. Many girls came to school early to cheer their friends.

The singles finals were held on 21st September 2023,  between Magnolia and Hibiscus where both the players gave their best and Magnolia was declared the winner by a huge margin.

The doubles finals were played between Magnolia and Jasmine and the close match was won by Magnolia.

It was a big day for Magnolia as they won both the finals, Singles as well as  Doubles.With a lot of  cheering for all the teams, we came to an end of the badminton matches for the season.

Inter House Badminton Tournament 2022

After a lapse of two years, it was heartening to see the girls’ overwhelming participation in the Inter House Badminton Tournament. The matches were competitive and displayed speed, agility, and skill on the court. The finals were held on 28/09/22.

The winner of the Singles event was Mrinalini Ray of class 3, Orchid House and the Runner Up was Avika Jain of class 5, Magnolia House.

The winners of the Doubles event were Kashvi Khajanchi of class 5 and Rashika Daga of class 4 (Magnolia House). The runners up were Aadya Rapeta and Anahita Pathak of class 5 (Jasmine House).
