The German Learners of Class 8 were selected for the very interesting “Multilingual Photo Dictionary of Indian Homes” project organised by Goethe Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan. It took part in three phases. After the online orientation, the participants independently visited and documented homes in their local areas, capturing observations through photographs, interviews, and notes. This initiative offered a unique opportunity for students to delve into the diverse realities of Indian homes and document them through a multilingual lens, incorporating English, German, and regional Indian languages. From 23rd to 26th August, the students participated in a four-day workshop in Mahabaleshwar, where they participated in an explorative workshop conducted by Gaurav Juyal, host of Disney’s Art Attack, India.
Brain Rain 2024
Students of Modern High School for Girls participated in Brain Drain 2024, the science fest organised by Modern High School International, on 16th December, 24. The contingent from Classes 8 and 9 bagged the award for the Most Innovative Team. The students participated in events including space tourism, sustainable eco gardens, solar-controlled vehicles, and magnetic levitation.

Modern High School for Girls participated in Jaco CORPS 2024, an Inter School Business Fest organised by St. James’ School, Kolkata, on November 24. The school won several accolades, such as First in Moot Court, First in Shark Tank, First in Panel Discussion, Second in Best Manager, Second in Stock Market, and Third in Eco Crisis. Modern High School was declared the Overall Best School in the fest.
Wipro Competition Prize Distribution
In 2023, two teams from Modern High School for Girls took part in the WIPRO Earthian Sustainability Competition in collaboration with ‘Disappearing Dialogues.’ The teams consisted of members from within and outside the CLEAN (Care and Love for Environment and Nature) Club, throwing light on the universality of environmental issues. This is a baton of responsibility we must all take up. The teams worked on various activities from the Waste, Water, and Biodiversity booklets and even visited the East Kolkata wetlands to get first-hand experience and collect primary data through interviews with the fishermen, vegetable vendors, waste workers, and farmers.
On 7th September 2024, Modern High School for Girls hosted the Earthian Sustainability Competition Prize Distribution and Felicitation, winning the Regional Award, where the talents and potential of several schools from across Bengal were reflected and esteemed activists delivered motivating speeches. The audience was moved by a beautiful short film created by youngsters of the tribal community from the wetlands.
