Exploring BITM on 6 March 2024 was a whirlwind of discovery and delight. From the Play area to the Science Magic Miracle show, laughter and learning intertwined seamlessly. The children soaked up knowledge through play, creating cherished memories of fun-filled exploration and newfound knowledge.
Class 1 – Christmas Activity – 2024
Secret Letters to Santa by Class 2
The children of Class 2 were very excited when they were told that they could write a Secret Letter to Santa. They poured their hearts out and wrote their desires to Father Christmas which would be directly posted by the teachers to North Pole. These secret letters were actually handed over to the parents during the Parent Teacher Meeting held on 17 December 2024.
Class 1 – Food Activity
The students of Class 1 enjoyed a food activity on 23 August 2024. They made a salad comprising corn, cucumber, and tomatoes and drank a small tetra pack of fruit juice. This activity reinforced the concept of healthy eating learned in EVS. However, it was emphasised that juice made from fresh fruit is healthier than packaged ones. The children understood that the major portion of our meals should always consist of nutritious food.
Quizzinius 2024
Aishani Poddar of Class 5 and Shakumbharee De of Class 4 represented Modern High School in Quizzinius 2024, an annual quiz festival celebrating its fifth edition, organised by Delhi Public School, Ruby Park. It took place on the 22nd and 23rd of November 2024. Leading schools in Kolkata participated in this competition. Our students qualified for the final round, which was contested by six schools. The questions asked were on a variety of topics and there were six rounds. It was a proud moment for us when it was announced that our school had come first in the competition.
Sanglaap
On 20th September 2024, fifteen students from Modern High School for Girls participated in ‘Sanglaap’—the’ Inter School Literary Fest organized by The Heritage School.
The event deciphered the true essence of ‘Sanglaap’ or ‘conversation’ through an interactive session with the authors—Swati Sengupta, Sohini Sen, and Madhurima Vidyarthi—about their books, ‘Rebellion in Ranchi,’ ‘A Sense of Magnolias,’ ‘Munni Monster,’ and ‘My Grandmother’s Masterpiece,’ respectively. This was followed by class-categorised quizzes and creative writing sessions.
MHS basked in the spotlight as our students secured the 1st position in the Classes 4-5 and Class 8 level quizzes while bagging the 2nd position both in the Classes 6-7 level quiz and the senior-level creative writing contest.
Junior Inter House Badminton Tournament – 2024
This year the Junior Department Inter House Badminton tournament was held on 13th September 2024.
In the singles category, the runners-up was Krisha Bansal of Hibiscus House, and the winner was Eshna Chatterjee of Magnolia House. In the doubles category, the runners-up were Malini Naik and Kavya Bagaria of Jasmine House and the winners were Navni Bansal and Chitrangana Arora of Magnolia House.
Junior Inter House Table Tennis – 2024
This year the Junior Department Inter House Table Tennis tournament was held on 26th July. The eight houses competed against each other. In the singles category, the runner-up was Paroma Mukherjee of the Lotus House and the winner was Rihanna Manihar of Magnolia House. In the doubles category, the runners-up were Samaaira Neemaani and Kiara Mirchandani of the Rose House and the winners were Navni Bansal and Dia Khaitan of Magnolia House.
Inter House Quiz
On 30th August 2024, we held our ‘Annual Inter House Quiz Competition.’ The students of classes 4 and 5, representing the eight houses, participated with enthusiasm. There were six rounds: audio, visual, connect, half a minute, mixed bag, and who/what am I. Questions on a variety of subjects like wildlife, current affairs, science, books, places of interest, and so on were asked. Gulmohar House won the competition and placed first, followed by Lotus in second and Orchid in third place.
Ms. Rajani Mishra & Brisha Gupta
Ms. Rajani Mishra – a PE Teacher in the Junior Department participated in The 3rd Captain’s Cup, organized by the National Combat Sports Federation.
She secured a silver medal demonstrating both precision and consistency in Mixed Khions and a gold medal, showcasing strong form, focus, and technical excellence in Mixed Kata.
Brisha Gupta, class 7B, has secured 3 gold medals in the Unified Martial Arts State Championship organised by the National Combat Sports Federation held on August 15 – 18, 2024 in Kolkata.
