From 1st -3rd July 2024, German Learners of Class 9 participated in an interesting project named “mitDenken – PhilosophyTalks” ,  commemorating the 300th birth anniversary of Immanuel Kant at the Goethe Institut/ Max Mueller Bhavan. The project aimed to celebrate philosophy through a series of engaging workshops designed for young, curious minds. The workshops focused   on everyday concepts, critical thinking, thought experiments, and respectful expression of opinions. On the final day the parents and teachers were also invited to attend a session where the young philosophers presented what they had learned and conducted an interesting class for all.

Session on Anna Blume by ThinkArts on 13th July

ThinkArts conducted a workshop in collaboration with Goethe Institut/ Max Mueller Bhawan on Anna Blume. 30 German Learners of Class7  participated in this exciting workshop.

Anna Blume

Anna Blume was born in Westphalia, Prussia, Germany, on 21 April 1936. She studied art at the Staatliche Kunstakademie in Düsseldorf from 1960 to 1965. She enjoyed having the same name as Kurt Schwitters’ imaginary figure, Anna Blume. Anna created installations, sequences of large photo scenes and, mostly in the 1990s, Polaroids. She also created drawings. She staged and photographed scenes in which she appeared herself, with objects taking on a “life” of their own.

Football German with Moves

On 29th of June 2024 German Learners of Class 7 and Class 8 participated in an exciting workshop, ‘Football German with Moves’, in celebration of UEFA at Goethe Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan. The workshop was very engaging and interactive and was designed to combine the fun of football with the learning of German language, providing an opportunity for students to enhance their language skills while enjoying the spirit of the sport.

Congratulations Ananya Chhaochharia

Congratulations to Ananya Chhaochharia- class of 2014, for having been  awarded a 100% scholarship at Harvard Kennedy school under the prestigious Gleitsman Fellowship: https://cpl.hks.harvard.edu/gleitsman-leadership-fellowship
In the light of COVID-19, Ananya’s organisation Paint it Red was working on providing menstrual kits to marginalised communities. We at MHS were filled with pride when we read about  the good work that her organization, Paint it Red , had been doing.
We wish Ananya all the very best.

Stamp Issued in Honour of Alumna

Alokananda Roy,an ex student who has been felicitated and an ex teacher from 1974 -1981.

It was a proud moment indeed when a stamp was issued in Alokananda Roy’s name by the West Bengal Postal Circle in August 2019. This was to pay tribute to her innovative & heroic efforts (through the medium of dance & music), which changed the mindset of Correctional Home inmates across the state of West Bengal !
