The students of Class 1 enjoyed an experiment in which they discovered that air occupies space. They carefully immersed an empty glass upside down into a bowl of water and tilted it to one side to show that the air that was inside the glass came out in the form of bubbles.
This was followed by the teacher demonstrating that air is needed for fire to burn. An inverted glass was placed over a burning candle and soon the flame extinguished to prove that fire cannot burn if the air supply is cut off.
These follow-up activities to the Water and Air topics done in EVS proved to be a fun learning experience for the children over the past week.
