Aishani Sarkar – Class 10 D

Aishani Sarkar – Class 10 D participated in the Junior State Swimming Championship (Group 1).

1) First in 1500 m Freestyle

2) First in 800 m. Freestyle

3) Second in 400 m Individual Medley

4) Third in 400 m Freestyle

She will now participate in the 48th National Junior Aquatic Championship to be held in Bhubaneswar from the 16th to the 20th of July.

 

 

Regatta Rowing Championship

Some of the MHS students participated in the Regatta Rowing Championship.

Event: Outdoor Rowing – Semi-Finals – Junior Girls Category – Team A

Gayatri Shriram – Class 9 D, Nandini Jhunjhunwala – Class 10 A, Diya Bavishi – Class 10 A and Aditi Srinivas – Class 6 D won the semifinals and will now compete against Ashok Hall in the finals.

Event: Outdoor Rowing – Junior Girls Category – Team B

Ishanvi Jalan – Class 6 A, Dakshita Choraria – Class 6 D, Mehar Kaur – Class 8 C and Pearl Kaur – Class 10 D will compete for bronze.

Event: Outdoor Rowing Semi-Finals – Senior Girls Category

Srreshtha Sureka – Class 12 C, Varija Dhandhania – Class 12 C, Yashita Choraria – Class 11, Saranya Mondal – Class 11 won the semi-finals and will now compete against Future Hope School in the finals.

The finals of the Regatta Rowing Championship have been postponed due to a tragic accident where two 14-year-old boys fell into the lake whilst practicing for the championship and drowned due to the harsh storm.

MHS emerges as the Champions

10 schools participated in the Reliance Foundation Junior NBA Championship 2022 on the 6th and 7th of May, 2022, at the Bengal Tennis Association, where the Modern High School for Girls basketball team emerged as the champions.

In the pre-quarterfinal match, Modern High School for Girls played against DAV Public School Kharagpur and won with a huge margin of 29-11. The quarterfinal match was played against Barisha Purba Para High School and Modern High School for Girls, and the girls beat them with a score of 26-04. The semifinal match was played against Amar Vidyapith with a score of 32-07, thus sealing the Modern High School for Girls position in the finals. Modern High School for Girls beat La Martiniere for Girls in the finals with a final score of 19-15.

The top scorer of the Modern High School for Girls team was Ms. Aarshia Gupta, who made it to the State Team for the National Championship, which will be held at Noida from the 16th -18th of May, 2022. Mr. Kishore Mukherjee, basketball coach of Modern High School for Girls, had coached the girls to victory. Ms. Saheli Dutta of the Physical Education Faculty of Modern High School for Girls has been selected to be the national coach for the National Championship tournament in May.

Anandini Sengupta – 8 B Poet & Writer

Congratulations to Anandini Sengupta, class 8B, for having won The Telegraph 18 under 18 award for short story and poetry writing.
This is the Telegraph’s initiative to encourage young achievers across 12 states of Eastern India. 50 children were chosen as finalists from over 1000 nominations.
The event was held on the 22nd of March at GD Birla Sabhagar. Anandini had the privilege of being interviewed by Kunal Basu, noted author and professor, at Oxford University. She received her prize from Anupam Roy, who is a professional singer, songwriter, and music director.
A poet and a short story writer, Anandini won the coveted Foyle Young Poets of the Year Commended Poet 2021 award from the Poetry Society. Her writing was shortlisted in the 2020 Laura Literary Awards. Anandini has won accolades in Bengali elocution as well.

Kolkata girl gets advanced Microsoft accolades at 12

It is with great pride we announce that Asaawari Sahai class 7C, has successfully cleared her third Microsoft Technology Associate certification. A unique achievement is rarely done by someone her age. 
 
Microsoft Technology Associate is a certification for college students and young professionals wanting to pursue careers in IT that validates fundamental technology skills and knowledge in Microsoft products.
 
Asaawari’s recent MTA Certification was in Introduction to Programming in HTML & CSS, while her previous certifications were in Python and JavaScript.  She has been learning coding from a leading Ed-Tech firm for the past 3 years and has shown a keen interest in this field.

Achievement in Dream Alliance 2022 Show

Congratulations to Saanvi Fatehpuria of class 9D for being placed third in show jumping and fourth in dressage at the Dream Alliance 2022 competition, which was held at the Sagar Equestrian Sports Academy in Jaipur this year.

(Dream Alliance is held all over India and this year it was held in the top six equestrian cities.)

Anjika Fatehpuria Class 8 C – Golf Achievement

Congratulations to Anjika Fatehpuria of class 8C for being the runner-up in 2 golf tournaments held in Kolkata. The Protouch Junior Tour 2021 was held on the  RCTC Grounds and the Eastern Amateur Tour Championship 2021 was held at Tollygunge Club.

Anandini Sengupta – Class 8 B

The Poetry Society, London, awarded the title of Foyle Young Poets of the Year Commended Poet 2021 to Anandini Sengupta of Class 8B on Friday, 22nd October 2021.

The  Society was founded in 1909 to promote recognition and appreciation of poetry. They run the Foyle Young Poets of the Year Award annually.

This year, Anandini has been selected as one of the top 100 poets out of about 15,000 poets from children aged between 11-17 years from 107 countries.

She attended an award ceremony (virtually), which was held in London, and her prizes, comprising books, stationery, and certificates, were sent to her by post from there.
