Class 5 Excursion to the Indian Museum, Eden Garden and Eden Park

On 25th February 2026 the Class 5 students of Modern High School for Girls went on an excursion to the Indian Museum, Eden Gardens and Eden Park.

At the Indian Museum the students explored the Archaeological Gallery, the Coins Section, the Sculpture Gallery, the Egyptian Gallery and the Zoological Gallery. The guides explained the exhibits clearly which made the visit very educational and interesting.

At Eden Gardens the students learnt about the history of the famous stadium. They visited the clubhouse, the press block, the players’ changing rooms and the press conference room. It was an interactive session where they were encouraged to take interest in sports and sports journalism.

The excursion was both informative and enjoyable. The students returned to school with happy memories and valuable knowledge from the day.

Bengal Rowing Club Run

Naina Dinodiya of Class 8C secured the First position in her age category (Female: 11-13 years) in the 10 km run at Bengal Rowing Club held on January 25th, 2026.

Intach FilmIt Competition

The students from Modern High School for Girls participated in the Intach FilmIt competition on 5th February, 2026 and secured the Best Story Award for their short film ‘The Legacy of Kites’ and The Best Film With A Message Award for ‘The First Drape’.

Lower KG – Reading Day Activity

The children of Lower KG observed Reading Day on 20 February 2026. They were taken to the school garden for a delightful reading session amidst nature. Surrounded by greenery, they were encouraged to read their favourite storybooks, making the experience both refreshing and inspiring. This initiative not only exposed them to a variety of storybooks but also helped them discover the true joy of reading. It was an enjoyable and enriching activity for our little readers.

Class 1 – Visit to The Horticultural Garden

The students of Class 1 visited the Horticultural Garden on Wednesday 11 February and Friday 13 February 2026. They had a wonderful time among the colourful flowers, the wide variety of trees, a greenhouse and a beautiful fountain. After their walk through the garden they enjoyed some play time as well. The trip proved to be an enriching experience and, on their bus ride back to school, the children excitedly discussed all that they had seen and learnt.

Read Together – Classes 1 to 5

On Tuesday, 10 February 2026 , students and faculty of Classes 1 to 5 came together for a special Read Together session in the school garden.
The session was organised to strengthen our culture of reading and to remind students of the joy of reading beyond textbooks.  Students brought a book of their choice, excited to dive into stories of adventure, mystery, humour and fantasy. From Class 3 onwards, students accustomed to reading on a Kindle also participated with one, ensuring that every child could enjoy reading in the format they were comfortable with.
The school garden looked lovely as students were deeply immersed in their books and the atmosphere reflected focus, enthusiasm and a true love for reading. It was a meaningful  celebration of stories — a morning that truly brought books to life.

Where Stories Come Alive – with Lesley D Biswas

On Tuesday, 10 February 2026 there was a reading session for classes 3 and 4 Where Stories Come Alive – with author Lesley D Biswas.  The session aimed to nurture a love for reading and help students connect with the creative mind behind the stories. Ms. Biswas warmly shared her journey as an author and introduced her book to the young readers.  Students participated enthusiastically in an interactive question-and-answer session and listened attentively as she read excerpts from her work.

Set in the serene ambience of the school garden, the session created a joyful and inspiring atmosphere. The students listened with rapt attention and responded with excitement and appreciation.  Overall, the interaction was enriching, engaging, and truly unforgettable—making it a meaningful celebration of books, creativity and the magic of storytelling.

 

 

Lower KG – Outdoor Art Activity

The children of Lower KG  participated in an outdoor art activity conducted in the school garden on 2.2.26 and 4.2.26 where they drew a beautiful garden scenery and coloured it using their imagination. Being outdoors inspired them to observe nature closely and express their ideas freely. Each child took great pride in completing their artwork, confidently showcasing their creations.

The activity helped enhance their creativity, observation skills and self-expression while making learning joyful and engaging.

Felicity by Mahadevi Birla World Academy

The students of classes 3,4 and 5 of Modern High School for Girls proudly showcased their talent at Felicity Chapter 2, organised by Mahadevi Birla World Academy on 30th January 2026. The event was themed ‘Phir Se Kitaab’ (Back to Books) and was inspired by Vikram Seth’s Beastly Tales from Here and There. It included engaging categories such as Reframing the Verse, Radio Play, Treasure Hunt, Critter Codes, and Swar Tarang.

Our students put in a wonderful performance, winning 1st place in Reframing the Verse, 1st and 2nd place in Treasure Hunt, 3rd place in Radio Play and a Special Prize for Critter Codes. Their success was a true reflection of their creativity, teamwork, problem-solving abilities and collaborative spirit.
