Zeugnisfeier at the Goethe-Institut Kolkata

On October 23, 2025, the Goethe-Institut Kolkata hosted a joyful “Zeugnisfeier” to honour the successful candidates of the Fit in Deutsch and B1J exams.

The event celebrated the hard work, perseverance, and achievements of the students — whether they passed with flying colours or gave it their best effort. It was a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge their dedication and inspire them to continue their German language journey with enthusiasm and confidence.

The celebration concluded with an engaging tour of the Goethe-Institut library, where students explored its rich collection of German books, resources, and learning materials — a perfect way to motivate them for the next steps in their learning journey.

Singapore Trip 2025

This year the destination for the Modern High School for Girls annual international trip was Singapore from 21st to 26th September, 2025. The students visited iconic places like the Garden by the Bay, Merlin Park, Art Science Museum, Universal Studio, the Ice cream Museum and many more. They went for a Night Safari and also indulged in shopping, all the while creating vibrant memories of their myriad experiences.

Class 8 Batch Trip to Shantiniketan, 2025

The students of Class 8 of Modern High School for Girls went to Shantiniketan for their Annual Batch Trip from 24th to 27th September, 2025. They visited the Biswa Bharati Museum, Srijani Shilpagram, Amar Kutir, Kopai river view point and indulged in the art and craft displayed at Sonajhuri haat where they shopped to their heart’s content.
Overall the trip was a great experience where the students formed golden memories.

Mental Health Week

Modern High School for Girls celebrated Mental Health Week from 13th to 17th October, 2025. Sessions were held for students of Classes 6 to 12 and activities ranged from discussions on the importance of mental health, steps to be taken to create awareness and destigmatization of mental illnesses and concluded with students of all classes creating vibrant and innovative ‘Gratitude Boards’.

Interhouse Basketball Tournament, 2025

The Interhouse Basketball Tournament for Classes 9 to 12 was held from 15th to 17th October, 2025. Gulmohar House emerged as the Winner, while Rose House secured the Runner-up position.

Class 10 Trip to Mayapur and Murshidabad, 2025

A special educational trip for Class 10 students was organized to Mayapur and Murshidabad from 21st to 23rd September, 2025. Designed to blend heritage, culture, and experiential learning, the trip offered students an opportunity to explore Bengal’s rich historical legacy. Highlights included visits to the Mayapur Chandrodaya Mandir, Hazarduari Museum, Rakhal Das Bandyopadhyay Museum, Bhagirathi Cooperative United Limited, and Barrack Square. The trip was both enriching and memorable.

Diwali 2025 Class 2

Diwali, known as the festival of lights, is a time of great joy and celebration. The students of Class 2 came together to express their creativity and enthusiasm for Diwali in a special way. They utilized vibrant sheets to craft paper diyas, adorning them with glitter pens, colourful stones and sequins. The children also drew various patterns and designs on paper  for rangoli, showcasing their artistic talents. As part of their Diwali activities, they engaged in a fun and educational worksheet, learning more about the significance of the festival and the happiness it brings. The spirit of Diwali was truly embraced as the students immersed themselves in these delightful and meaningful activities.The children were made aware that it is important to celebrate a safe and green Diwali for them to develop responsible habits and a love for the environment.

Diwali 2025 Class 1

The students of Class 1 celebrated Diwali by colouring and decorating bright rangolis and diyas. They happily sang a Diwali song and displayed these beautiful creations in the school lobby and corridors. In keeping with the festive mood, the children made a special Diwali sweet and shared this tasty treat with their friends. They were, however, reminded that Diwali is a festival of lights and we should celebrate it without causing harm to the environment.

Diwali 2025 Upper KG

The students of Upper KG celebrated the spirit of Diwali with kindness and creativity! They made paper diyas, coloured them and beautifully decorated them using stone stickers. The girls also drew and wrote how they show kindness by helping others, sharing and doing small good deeds. Just like Diwali lights brighten homes, their kind acts brighten hearts!

Diwali 2025 Lower KG

The spirit of Diwali lit up the classrooms of Lower KG as the children celebrated the festival with joy and creativity. They enjoyed a fun-filled day making beautiful paper crafts — painting and pasting sequins to decorate their diyas. They also drew and coloured rockets, adding their own imaginative designs, and completed their craftwork by pasting a triangle to form the rocket shape.

One of the highlights of the day was the Puchka Party! The children turned into little Puchka walas, making their own puchkas and relishing every crunchy bite — the crackling sound of enjoyment filled the air!

The celebration concluded with a lively discussion on the significance of Diwali and the importance of celebrating safely. It was truly a day of learning, laughter, and festive cheer.
