As India celebrated its 79th year of independence on 15th August, 2025, the Junior School students of Modern High School for Girls joined the celebration by rejoicing in the progress that this great nation has made since regaining autonomy. The students presented their vision of a modern India through meaningful narration, melodious songs and artistic dance compositions.

On 18th August 2025, MHS alumna Dr. Madhurima Vidyarthi interacted with the Class 8 students of Modern High School for Girls on her novel ‘The School for Bad Girls’. Apart from being a wonderful and captivating read, the novel is on the class 8 English curriculum for this year and the girls had a delightful time speaking to the writer herself. The interaction began with a presentation by Dr. Vidyarthi on the historical context of her novel and was followed by a question and answer session with the students where they asked her all sorts of insightful questions they had come across while reading the novel.

Students of Modern High School for Girls were selected to represent the school at Indradhanush ’25, an Inter-School Fest hosted by Lakshmipat Singhania Academy. What made the event truly unique was that all activities were kept a surprise, requiring no prior preparation.
On arrival, participants were grouped into mixed-school teams, each representing a Superhero Theme. The day unfolded with exciting challenges such as obstacle races, art competitions, dodgeball and skits with imaginative titles like Trial of the Titans, Rescue Rush, Caring Squad and Relay of Champions.
The fest became a vibrant platform for students to engage in collaboration and teamwork, as they connected with peers from different schools, shared creative ideas and worked together towards common goals. Beyond showcasing their talents, they experienced the joy of learning through cooperation and collective effort. It was a memorable and enriching day that celebrated unity, creativity and the true spirit of working together.

The students of Modern High School for Girls participated in the Captain’s Cup Martial Arts Competition on 15th August 2025. They showcased commendable performances, especially in the Kata events, where the school team secured 4th position in the Open Team category.

On 8th August, 2025, the students of Class 8 of Modern High School for Girls transported everyone to the picturesque and serene Santiniketan, where Tagore or Kobi Guru Rabindranath Thakur, as we, the Bengalis felicitate him, started the ‘Vriksharopan Utsav’ on July 14, 1929 by planting a ‘bokul’ sapling. Modern High School for Girls has kept the legacy alive with its annual ‘vriksharopan’ (tree planting) ceremony where at the end of the ceremony, the sapling is planted in the school garden. The ceremony was an expression of the bard’s love for Nature and his strong belief that a deep sense of harmony binds every element of Nature. The various songs and dances, as well as narration, all performed by the young and talented students of Class 8, highlighted Tagore’s legacy of protecting the environment. The beautiful flower ‘alpana’ is an artistic expression of Tagore’s cherished ideals of ‘Satyam, Shivam, Sundaram’ – ‘Truth, Beauty and Compassion’ ; which is also the vision of our school. The ceremony was a celebration of the sacred communion between Nature and the human soul and compelled us to acknowledge and recognize Nature as a friend, philosopher and guide.
