Legacy Excursion to Netaji Bhawan Museum, 2025

On 23rd April, 2025 the members of the Legacy Club from Classes 6 to 12 undertook an educational excursion to the Netaji Bhawan Museum, Kolkata.
Nestled in the heart of the city, Netaji Bhawan stands as a venerable monument dedicated to the life and contributions of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. The historic edifice, once his ancestral residence, houses an invaluable collection of personal artifacts, rare correspondences, and evocative photographs. Through these exhibits, students were offered a profound insight into the indomitable spirit and enduring legacy of one of India’s most iconic leaders. During the visit, they engaged intellectually and emotionally with the exhibits, gaining a deeper understanding of Netaji’s extraordinary life and his pivotal role in India’s freedom struggle.

68th National School Games

Ayanah Gupta of Modern High School for Girls had participated in the 68th National School Games, organized by the School Games Federation of India (SGFI), in the Football U-19 age category. Her dedication and commendable performance is truly appreciable.

Earth Day – Upper Primary – 2025

The students of Classes 3, 4, and 5 came together to celebrate Earth Day on 22nd April with enthusiasm and awareness. A short programme was held, with meaningful talks on Renewable and Non-Renewable resources, highlighting and promoting the benefits of renewable energy. The event also featured Earth Day songs, facts about when the first Earth day was celebrated.

It was important to make students understand that these projects are not time bound and only to ‘celebrate’ the day. Earth day and thinking about the environment needs to be done everyday and there must be a genuine desire to make a positive change.

Which is why students their 2 previous and ongoing projects

1. “Give Me 10” initiative—encouraging families to wait 10 minutes before turning on the AC—to conserve energy and reduce CFLs.

2. Collecting paper & plastic waste which was sent for recycling.

This year they are learning about ‘composting’, its process, and how it benefits the environment by recycling waste into rich organic material.

A special highlight was the Class 3 “Disconnect to Reconnect” campaign, where families engaged in a digital detox over the weekend. They spent quality time star gazing, playing games, storytelling, and preparing meals together—proving that reconnecting with loved ones can be both fun and eco-friendly. It was a beautiful reminder of how small steps by young minds can make a big difference for a greener tomorrow.

Earth Day – Class 2 – 2025

Class 2 hosted a fun and creative eco-friendly coaster-making activity on 22 April 2025 to promote sustainability through recycling as part of Earth Day celebrations. The students came together to create beautiful, handmade coasters using cardboard cutouts and decorated them with flowers and leaves collected and compressed earlier. The concept of “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” was reiterated through a Sudoku worksheet done in class.

Earth Day Class 1 – 2025

The children of Class 1 celebrated Earth Day on 22 April 2025 with much enthusiasm. They brought saplings of various types of plants and eagerly spoke about the benefits we get from them. Afterwards, the children enjoyed planting several of these saplings in the garden with the help of the school gardeners. This was a fun learning experience for them and they now wait excitedly to see their plants grow. The children also took a walk around the school garden, admiring nature.

Earth Day -Lower KG – 2025

The children of Lower KG celebrated Earth Day on 22 April 2025 through a variety of engaging activities, art & craft and classroom discussions. They discussed ways to protect planet Earth and took part in creative activities like making Earth themed crafts. Activities such as ‘Cleaning of the Ocean’ and sorting games helped raise awareness among the children about caring for the environment and building a better future.

Earth Day Upper KG – 2025

On the occasion of Earth Day, Upper KG students expressed their appreciation for Mother Earth through drawing pictures of things that keep the planet clean and things they love about their planet. They also engaged in a craft activity where they created an Earth Day Mobile of important actions that help protect the Earth, like saving water, not littering etc. They were encouraged to be young Earth heroes in their everyday actions.

Mahadevi Birla World Academy Interschool Aquatic Meet For Girls 2025-26

Modern High School for Girls participated in Mahadevi Birla World Academy Aquatic Meet for Girls 2025-26 from 21st to 23rd April, 2025 and won the Overall Winner Trophy in Swimming.
Shreyashee Mukherjee stood 3rd in 4×3m Individual Medley, 2nd in Backstroke and 1st in Freestyle. Aditi Srinivas secured the 3rd Position in 3 Laps Breaststroke and the MHS team stood 2nd in Relay.

Inter State Kickboxing Championship

Brisha Gupta of Class 8A of Modern High School for Girls has secured the Silver Medal in the Inter State 2nd Captain’s Cup Kickboxing Championship held in Mumbai from 17th to 20th April, 2025.

Class 7 Visits Goethe-Institut for “Monthly Movie Magic”

On 17th April 2025, a group of enthusiastic German language students from Class 7 took part in the “Monthly Movie Magic” event at the Goethe-Institut. This engaging initiative aimed to immerse students in the German language and culture through the captivating medium of cinema.

As part of the program, students watched a German film. To enhance their learning experience, a variety of interactive activities were incorporated before the screening, during the interval, and after the film. These activities were thoughtfully designed to support language acquisition, inspire cultural exploration, and encourage meaningful engagement with the film’s themes.

The event was both educational and enjoyable, offering students a memorable opportunity to connect with the German language and culture in a dynamic and interactive setting.
